The Cell Phone’s Role in Improving Patient Care Illustrated at TEPR Conference
Medical Records Institute, AllOne Mobile and 20 TEPR Conference vendors partner in ground-breaking
demonstration
WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – May 19, 2008 – Today, attendees of the 24th annual TEPR (Towards the
Electronic Patient Record) Conference will be the first to experience how cell phones can allow health
care information to be securely shared among patients, health care providers and payers using a single
wireless communications system. The goal is to show how cell phones can improve the quality of medical
care and convenience for consumers. This revolutionary approach is expected to change how patients/
consumers interact with health care providers and payers.
The Medical Records Institute will launch this nine-month Interoperability Project with more than 20
TEPR 2008 exhibitors during the TEPR Conference. The demonstration features AllOne MobileSM, a secure
cell phone-based application created by the AllOne Health Group Inc.SM to manage personal health
information. Patient data is stored behind a password-protected, encrypted channel through a
partnership with Diversinet Corp. (OTCBB: DVNTF), a leading provider of wireless security
applications.
Several thousand TEPR attendees are invited to load mock patient health information onto cell phones
using AllOne Mobile to test how it works in real-world scenarios to securely manage and share health
information with physicians, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, insurers and emergency personnel.
Attendees will learn first-hand how AllOne Mobile allows consumers to:
- View and send insurance coverage information;
- Track prescription drugs;
- Catalog allergies, or fax a child’s allergy records to the school nurse;
- Send health information, including a family health history, to a physician; and
- Access health tips to better manage chronic conditions.
“For too long, physicians and other providers have had to make clinical decisions in the absence of
critical data about the patient’s health status and prior treatment,” said Peter Waegemann, Medical
Records Institute CEO and TEPR Conference chairman. “The growing adoption of electronic medical records
has only partially addressed this problem because true interoperability among vendors remained elusive.
Now, with a cell phone-based application like AllOne Mobile that can interact with many different
health record technologies, patients can easily collect and maintain their own health information and
transfer it, securely and wirelessly, using their cell phones.”
Over the next nine months, Interoperability Project partners will refine the demonstration to provide
the basis for a universal wireless health information exchange. The results of the project will be
presented in February 2009 at the TEPR annual conference.
“The goal is to create a single communications structure that allows safe and secure interchange of a
patient’s health information among payers, providers and others for the purpose of a more efficient

access a patient’s relevant personal health information to help keep them healthy and avoid future
problems. We want to make it easier for patients to communicate with doctors and health care

AllOne Mobile transfers health data between data sources by leveraging the Continuity of Care Record
(CCR) standard created to share basic information between trusted health care partners.
“What’s new about this connectivity demonstration is the user-friendly and secure solution offered by a
cell phone-based application,” said Waegemann. “Although the idea of generic import and export of the
Continuity of Care Record is not new, this demonstration integrates various applications in order to
show how emerging cell phone functionalities can improve health care through the creation of a
universal wireless health data exchange platform.”
Project partners also envision that an integrated, cell phone-based communication system could handle
appointment scheduling, insurance coverage eligibility determination, e-prescribing, care management
functions, clinical decision support functions and real-time claim adjudication.
